PWAC2021

Highlights

Janina Sajka is going to tell us about the changes and updates at the W3C. Ms. Janina Sajka’s career today is focussed primarily on the accessibility implications and opportunities of web standards development in the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) where she Co-Chairs the W3C’s Accessible Platforms Working Group. She continues to take on consulting projects for major technology behemoths like Amazon, as well as for small but innovative enterprises like Userway.org and Accessibility Australia Ltd.

What is PWAC?

A favourite in the calendar for many accessibility minded people in Perth, this fantastic one day event is your chance to learn and share about web accessibility in a casual environment.

The Great Debate returns for another round of silliness. This year we will argue about the idea that working remotely solves all our accessibility problems - if you feel strongly about this, or just like a good 3-minute rant, get in touch with Scott to join one of the teams.

The event is run by some of the lovely people from the Perth Web Accessibility Meetup.

Covid precautions

We want to make sure that everyone who attends Perth Web Accessibility Camp in person at VisAbility is safe from Covid. So we’ve put together a plan for us all.

As of 14 October 2022, the Federal Government has removed the need for isolation when COVID-19 positive for most settings. While it is no longer mandatory to isolate when COVID positive, VisAbility does ask you to:

  • Stay home until your COVID-like symptoms have resolved to prevent spreading the illness to others
  • Consider mask wearing when around others
  • Be mindful of physical distancing
  • Practise good personal hygiene (wash hands often with soap and water, or hand sanitiser).

If you feel unwell on the day of the event, please stay home for the protection of other vulnerable people. You don’t have to miss out though! Let us know as soon as possible and we’re happy to switch you to an online event ticket. If you have any concerns about your safety, please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.
