Kathryn O’Toole is a scholar, disability advocate, and former cardiac nurse practitioner based in Adelaide, South Australia. Her work sits at the intersection of lived experience, living with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) and critical scholarship.

Kathryn’s upcoming session explores how vision loss reshapes identity and challenges dominant narratives of “overcoming,” while positioning resilience as a relational, community‑rooted process. It examines the everyday accessibility barriers faced by vision‑impaired university students from digital inaccessibility to the gap between policy and practice and how these barriers shape identity, belonging, and academic participation.
